This FRIENDSHIP HIGH WAY give the opportunity for travelers to cross the Tibet Nepal Border and the tour will also let you to explore the main parts of Tibet, like Lhasa, Shigatse, Mt. Everest Base Camp and the Tibet Nepal Border called Kyirong. This overland trip drive to Kathmandu from Lhasa is one of the most famous tours for foreign travelers.

  • Day 01: Arrival in Lhasa Tour

    Your arrival in Tibet will be greeted by our Tibetan guide and Tibetan driver by presenting a white scarf (Khada in Tibet) at the Airport or the Train Station. This is a very traditional way of welcoming a friend in Tibet. The Distance from Airport to Lhasa city is about 60km and from the Train station to Lhasa is about 15km. We take the first day easy for acclimatize the altitude. Overnight in Lhasa.

  • Day 02. Lhasa Escorted Tour

    After your breakfast at the Hotel, our meet you at the hotel lobby and will escort to visit the Potala Palace, the Winter Palace of the Dalai Lamas. It was built in the 7th Century by the King Songtsan Gampo and later, in 17th Century the palace was extended the building to the present size and then, became the palace of the Dalai Lamas and also used as the Tibetan local administrative center of the Dalai Lama. This palace is the largest and intact group of ancient buildings in Tibet, which is listed in the world heritage. In the afternoon, our guide will take you to visit the Jokhang Temple which is located in the heart of Lhasa city. Jokhang Temple is considered as the holiest temple in Tibet, where there is the image of Buddha Sakyamuni which has the history of 2500 years. It is also the main worshiping place for Tibetans and Buddhist. Overnight in Lhasa

  • Day 03. Lhasa Escorted Tour

    In the morning, we are going to visit the Drepung Monastery. The Drepung Monastery is the largest monastery in Geluk pa school in Autonomous Region of Tibet. During the 17th century the monastery had housed more than 10,000 monks and it was became the palace of Dalai Lama. There are 7 colleges in the monastery and big assembly hall for all the monks. In the afternoon, after the lunch we drive to the Sera Monastery, which was built in the 14th century by the disciple of Tsonga Pa who is the founder of Geluk Pa school or the seat. The most interesting thing to witness in this monastery is the debating of monks. They are debating on the Buddhist philosophy and it is very helpful for the monks to sharpen their mind. The debate will be held from Monday to Saturday from 3:00pm to 5pm, though no debate on Sunday. Overnight in Lhasa.

  • Day 04. Lhasa – Gyantse – Gyantse - Shigatse;

    Today is the time to depart from Lhasa to explore the remote parts of Tibet. In the Morning our guide and driver will drive from Lhasa to Shigatse. On way to Shigatse we will come across the Kampa La pass (4700m) and will have an awesome view of Lake Yamdrok and the Nyenchen Kangsar Range, the highest peak has 7,300m height from sea level. Then driving near by the turquoise colored lake Yamdrok after another half an hour, then reached in Nangkhar Tse where you can have some lunch. After the lunch, driving through the beautiful valley to see the Tibetan nomadic camps, Karola Glacier (it is the 7th largest glacier in TAR). Crossing the Simi la pass and a man-made lake for hydroelectricity. After your arrival in Gyantse, we visit the Phelchor Choede Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum. Gyantse Kumbum is the most magnificent building in Tibet and the shape of the building is very familiar with solid or three dimension mandala. Continue drive to Shigatse after the visit and stay overnight in Shigatse.

  • Day 05. Shigatse – Shegar;

    Today we drive for 250km from Shigatse to Shegar. In the morning, our guide will collect all your passport and work on the Alien’s Travel Permits which can be received from the Shigatse PSB. Then you continue your journey to Shegar, on the way you will cross the highest pass called Gyatso La pass, with an elevation of 5100m height. Before reaching in Shegar you will have the first view of the Mt. Everest from a far distance. Overnight in Shegar.

  • Day 06. Shegar - EBC;

    In the Early Morning, we depart to the Mt. Everest Base Camp. After leaving the Shegar town, we will climbing a very high pass called Pang la pass, which has 5000m height from the sea level. On the high pass you will have the best view of the high Mountains of the Himalaya. From there you will see the Mt. Ma Kalu (8463m), Mt. Lotse (8516m), Mt. Everest (8848m) and Mt. Cho Oyu(8201m). It is highly advised for travelers to catch the Sun Shine View of the Himalaya from the Pangla pass or Gyawu la pass. We continue drive through Tibetan villages and after 2 hrs we will arrive at the Mt. Everest Base Camp. Overnight at EBC.

  • Day 07. EBC - Kyirong;

    After your breakfast at the EBC and Sun rise view of the Mt. Everest. It is the time for us to depart to Kyirong, the Tibet Nepal Border. There are around 370km drive and it may take around 8 – 10hrs. Along the way, we will have the best view of Mt. Shishapangma (8020m) and Peku Tso Lake. The, we gradually drive down to Kyirong. In Tibetan Kyirong means Happy Valley. It is indeed a happy valley, because of its beauty and the environment. Overnight in Kyirong.

  • Day 08. Departure to Kathmandu;

Tour Guide will assist the clients to exit China. And see clients off at Kyirong border. End te services at the border.

Please Note: the Transfer from Kyirong to Kathmandu is not included.
It is easy to hire a public transportation or private vehicles. Public bus may cost USD40 – 60 er person. Private vehicle cost around USD300/ vehicle.
