This Tour is one of the most challenging trekking itinerary in Tibet, which covers around 75km from the Tribshi Village to the Emalong Monastery, which locates on the north of the Samye Monastery. In this trekking itinerary, you will also cross more than 5200 m height of the high pass called Shukhar la pass and also Chitul la pass. Rather than these obstacles this trekking itinerary is filled with rich culture, traditional life of nomadic Tibetan life. This is one of the best tour itinerary to experience the authentic Tibetan culture and tradition.

  • Day 01: Arrival in Lhasa Tour

    Your arrival in Tibet will be greeted by our Tibetan guide and Tibetan driver by presenting a white scarf (Khada in Tibet) at the Airport or the Train Station. This is a very traditional way of welcoming a friend in Tibet. The Distance from Airport to Lhasa city is about 60km and from the Train station to Lhasa is about 15km. We take the first day easy for acclimatize the altitude. Overnight in Lhasa.

  • Day 02. Lhasa Escorted Tour

    After your breakfast at the Hotel, our meet you at the hotel lobby and will escort to visit the Potala Palace, the Winter Palace of the Dalai Lamas. It was built in the 7th Century by the King Songtsan Gampo and later, in 17th Century the palace was extended the building to the present size and then, became the palace of the Dalai Lamas and also used as the Tibetan local administrative center of the Dalai Lama. This palace is the largest and intact group of ancient buildings in Tibet, which is listed in the world heritage. In the afternoon, our guide will take you to visit the Jokhang Temple which is located in the heart of Lhasa city. Jokhang Temple is considered as the holiest temple in Tibet, where there is the image of Buddha Sakyamuni which has the history of 2500 years. It is also the main worshiping place for Tibetans and Buddhist. Overnight in Lhasa

  • Day 03. Lhasa Escorted Tour

    In the morning, we are going to visit the Drepung Monastery. The Drepung Monastery is the largest monastery in Geluk pa school in Autonomous Region of Tibet. During the 17th century the monastery had housed more than 10,000 monks and it was became the palace of Dalai Lama. There are 7 colleges in the monastery and big assembly hall for all the monks. In the afternoon, after the lunch we drive to the Sera Monastery, which was built in the 14th century by the disciple of Tsonga Pa who is the founder of Geluk Pa school or the seat. The most interesting thing to witness in this monastery is the debating of monks. They are debating on the Buddhist philosophy and it is very helpful for the monks to sharpen their mind. The debate will be held from Monday to Saturday from 3:00pm to 5pm, though no debate on Sunday. Overnight in Lhasa.

  • Day 04. Lhasa - Ganden Monastery;

    Drive to Ganden monastery, built by Tsongkhapa in 1409. Monastery is founded 60km away from Lhasa on over 4100m high Wangpo-ri hill. It is first monastery of Gelugpa sect. Its lingkor(circuit) around the monastery is most interested thing, strongly suggest to take bird’s eye view of Kyichu valley. Your guide will arrange porters and yaks for your luggage during trekking. Take a good and prepare to trek next day. Camping beside nearby village.

  • Day 05. Trek from Ganden - Yama Do (17 km, 5 to 6hours).

    From Ganden to Yama-do via Trubshi village and Hepu village, climbing up the hill for coming 30minute and you can see Shuga-la pass (the highest point during trekking 5250m high) in distance and Kyichu valley in west. Walking through gullies and valleys, you will reach Hepu village, from here trail climbs up Shuga- la pass 3and half hours away. Enjoy wonderful scenery of Tibetan typical village throughout the trail and you will end the day at ascent to Yama-do which offers suitable camp sites. Overnight in camp.

  • Day 06. Trek from Yama Do - Tsotup-chu valley (10 km, 5 hours)

    In the morning, we have to complete the steep climb of Shuga-la pass. Descend down to Tsotup-chu valley passing couple of lakes, views of valley and lakes in the middle of trail from Shuga-la is point to be noted. Keep your eye on herders dog on opposite side of river. During trekking season herders are normally camped nearby. This is good place to camp and explore nomadic life.

  • Day 07.Trek from Tsotup-chu valley - Herders camps (14 km, 5 hours)

    The trail runs along Tsotup-chu valley to the bottom and climb up the Chitu-la pass 5210m high. You will notice the top with several cairns. Three small lakes can be seen from the top, trail moves through west of first lake and squeezed in rock walls. The bush forest surround the trail in distance is only way to Samye. Passing through large meadow and river, we will arrive herders camp.

  • Day 08. Trek from Herders camp - Samye monastery (39 km, 5hours )

    Today is last day of trekking and also simplest part of trekking. Trail descends down 1200m. It is most beautiful of the entire trek. Walking through large meadow, you will reach Changtang village, first permanent village since Hepu village. From here walk 1and half an hours to Yamalong Hermitage. You driver will wait here to take you to Samye monastery. Visit Samye monastery and relax in monastery guesthouse.

  • Day 09. Samye monastery - Tsedang.

    Its only 50km from Samye monastery to Tsedang. Visit Yumbulakang stands 10km away from Tsedang. Yumbulakang built for 1st king Nyatri Tsanpo, founding of this palace dates back to legend and myth. It was first palace of yarlong kings before Potala palace. Overnight at Tsedang.

  • Day 10. Departure from Lhasa;

    Today is the end of the trip and we highly suggest our travelers to give a short time to fill the evaluation form to improve our quality service for the future. Then, our guide will be waiting at the Hotel lobby and take you to the Airport or Train station accordingly.
